Index-Lab Milano

Digital fabrication exhibition

In 2010 I took part in the design and fabrication of a site-specific exhibition at the Politecnico di Milano, under the supervision of Prof. Pierpaolo Ruttico.

The concept draws inspiration from a fluid looking ribbon designed around the spectator. The complex structure is a triangulated lattice of 1250 flat chipboard panels, made out of 11000 different parts. The algorithm that generates the ribbon is a simple rule that reiterate itself, but not in a repetitive way, it does it by continually adapting with different variations.  This brings to architecture a sense of movement, and therefore a sense of time.
